Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to Meet PM Tomorrow to Discuss Budget Concerns

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has accepted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to discuss the party’s concerns regarding the 2024-25 budget, Pakistan Talk Show reported on Thursday.

This meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Prime Minister’s House, facilitated through back-door diplomacy.

The primary agenda for the meeting includes addressing the PPP’s specific concerns, particularly their opposition to imposing heavy taxes on the salaried class. Additionally, the discussion will cover coalition matters in Punjab.

This development follows Finance Minister Aurangzeb’s presentation of an Rs18.877 trillion relief-oriented federal budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Wednesday. Notably, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did not attend the budget session on June 12, citing a lack of consultation with the PPP during the budget preparation.

He admitted there was insufficient consultation with the PPP but assured that the concerns would be addressed before the budget is finalized. Sanaullah emphasized that while the PPP’s concerns are justified, the budget is still open to proposals and adjustments.
