Deputy PM Ishaq Dar to Visit China from May 13-16
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Beijing, China from May 13-16, where he will co-chair the 5th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue, as announced by the Foreign Affairs ministry.

During the visit, both sides will conduct a comprehensive review of Pakistan-China bilateral relations, focusing on economic and trade cooperation, high-level exchanges, the upgradation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and future connectivity initiatives. Additionally, they will exchange views on the unfolding regional geopolitical landscape and bilateral cooperation at multilateral fora.

In anticipation of Dar’s visit, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized the significance of this visit as part of institutional exchanges between the two foreign ministries. The spokesperson mentioned that Dar would hold the fifth round of the Foreign Minister-Level China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, indicating the importance attached to the visit by both countries.

Moreover, Pakistan and China have agreed to expedite the implementation of projects under CPEC across various sectors. During a meeting between Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China Zhao Chenxin in Beijing, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation.

They agreed to implement the Industrial Cooperation Framework Agreement, prioritize cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and agriculture modernization, and enhance connectivity of the coastal city of Gwadar. Additionally, they discussed enhancing road and highway infrastructure cooperation, signing four MoUs for launching technical studies on various projects. Both sides also planned to hold the next round of CPEC’s Joint Coordination Committee before the prime minister’s upcoming visit to China.
