Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair Announces Departure from PML-N

Former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair announced on Sunday his decision to part ways with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Zubair cited significant differences with the party leadership regarding the no-confidence move against former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, as well as the performance of the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s government over the past 16 months, among other issues.

In his statement, Zubair mentioned that he had conveyed his disagreements to the party leadership some time ago.

He has not yet decided whether he will join another political party, stating that he will make a decision on his political future in due course.

Zubair also criticized PML-N for abandoning its “Vote Ko Izzat Do” (respect the vote) slogan. He elaborated that the PML-N initially adopted a confrontational stance, then shifted to reconciliation, and is now focusing on an economic narrative.

He revealed that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had suggested holding elections immediately after the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan, and that a speech by then-PM Shehbaz Sharif about dissolving the assembly was also prepared.
