Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has verified that the government will conduct the general election in agreement with the timeline set by the Election Commission of Pakistan( ECP).

Speaking to the media, he emphasized the government’s commitment to upholding the ECP’s opinions and the autonomy of the election Commission of Pakistan. Solangi stated,” We stand by the Election Commission’s station, as we don’t have any intention to take its powers back.”

He further mentioned that the caretaker government, in agreement with Composition 218( 3) of the Constitution, will give full support to the ECP to insure free, fair, and transparent choices. The caretaker government acknowledges the ECP’s obligation to carry out a delimitation exercise under Composition 51 of the Constitution, and the election commission has formerly outlined a plan for this purpose.

Solangi also mentioned that the caretaker finance minister would present an profitable recovery plan in the coming days, reaffirming the caretaker government’s commitment to profitable progress and substance. This statement comes after the Chief Election Commissioner( CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja, decided not to meet with President Arif Alvi in response to the President’s assignation to bandy the date of the general choices.

The decision was reportedly grounded on legal advice and the understanding that there’s no need for similar consultations after the passage of the Election Amendment Act.
