Government Establishes Inquiry Committee for Bishkek Incident
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the formation of an inquiry committee on Wednesday to investigate the causes behind the recent mob attacks on Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, as reported by Pakistan Talk Show.

The violence erupted on Friday night after videos of a confrontation between Kyrgyz and Egyptian students went viral, leading local residents to target international students, including Pakistanis.

According to official figures, approximately 10,000 Pakistani students are studying in Kyrgyzstan, with nearly 6,000 based in Bishkek.

In response to the violence, Pakistan has repatriated over 4,500 students from Bishkek via various flights.

During a news conference in Islamabad, the foreign minister stated that the inquiry committee would also examine the role of the Pakistani mission in Bishkek regarding student facilitation. Dar mentioned that the committee would coordinate with Kyrgyz authorities, review all findings, and submit its report within two weeks. He assured that the government would not prevent any student in Bishkek who wishes to return to Pakistan.

On Tuesday, Dar visited Kyrgyzstan to check on the health of Shahzaib, a Pakistani textile worker injured during the mob violence. The deputy prime minister was received at the hospital by Deputy Chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov and Kyrgyz Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. Shahzaib expressed a desire to return to Pakistan, and at Dar’s special request, the hospital authorities agreed to discharge him for further treatment in Pakistan.

Dar also met with his Kyrgyz counterpart in Kazakhstan during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting. The two ministers then traveled together from Astana to Bishkek.
