A special court established under the Official Secrets Act has extended Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf( PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s judicial remand until September 13 in the cipher case. The hail took place at the Attock District Jail.

Khan has been locked in the Attock jail since his conviction in the Toshakhana case on August 5. Although the Islamabad High Court capsized the lower court’s decision to jail him for three times with a Rs 100,000 forfeiture a day before, Khan remains in guardianship due to his judicial remand in the cipher case until August 30.

The Federal Investigation Agency( FIA) officially arrested Khan in the cipher case before this month, reserving him under the Official Secrets Act. At the hail, Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi represented the FIA, while PTI counsel Salman Safdar represented Khan. Khan’s legal platoon filed apost-arrest bail operation and requested an open court hail.

The PTI attorneys have also moved a solicitation in the special court to declare the jail trial announcement” illegal” and sought Khan’spost-arrest bail. The court has issued notices to all parties involved, and arguments are listed for September 2. Khan’s legal platoon has raised questions about the remand process, stating that Khan didn’t know about his arrest in the cipher case and that his arrest wasn’t duly communicated to him or his attorneys. In the cipher case, Khan is indicted of oohing a classified state document.

His legal platoon argues that the Official Secrets Act shouldn’t apply in this case, as the original dupe of the politic document was with the Foreign Office, and it was noway lost. They contend that the act can only be applied in cases related to espionage and other sensitive matters. Meanwhile, former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was also named in the cipher case, will appear before the special court as his two- day remand is completed moment.

His counsel and PTI leader Babar Awan will represent him in court. Khan’s attorneys have expressed enterprises about the circumstances girding his detention, suggesting that there may have been a” manipulation of justice” that has kept him behind bars. They argue that Khan was granted bail and anticipated to be released from Attock Jail but remained in detention due to a former arrest in the cipher case, which they claim was made in secret and without proper announcement to his legal platoon.
