No Helmet, No Petrol” Directive Put on Hold in Lahore

The Lahore High Court( LHC) has suspended the” No helmet, no petrol” announcement issued by the deputy manager of Lahore. The deputy manager had issued a announcement banning the trade of petrol to motorcyclists who weren’t wearing helmets. Petrol pumps were also advised of forfeitures for violating these orders. The LHC expressed enterprises over this matter and struck down the announcement, citing the lack of any being law that prevents the trade of petrol to motorcyclists without helmets. The court emphasized the significance of upholding citizens’ abecedarian rights and questioned the validity of such a directive. The court’s decision follows its allocation of a formal notice to the civil government and other applicable stakeholders to give their input on the matter. The court has also summoned responses from the deputy manager, the Inspector General of Punjab, and the Chief Capital City Police Officer( CCPO) of Lahore.
