No One Supports Anyone Gary Kirsten on Lack of Unity in Pakistan Team

Pakistan’s white-ball coach, Gary Kirsten, has raised serious concerns following the national team’s early exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

According to sources cited by Pakistan Talk Show, Kirsten has questioned the unity and fitness of the players, suggesting significant issues within the team. Kirsten, known for his successful coaching stints with various international teams, expressed that he has never encountered such a lack of cohesion among players.

He emphasized that the players are not supporting each other and are instead working in isolation. Kirsten pointed out that the team’s skill level is far behind that of other top cricketing nations. He criticized the players for their poor shot selection and decision-making, despite their extensive experience.

The coach highlighted the urgent need for the team to improve its fitness and skill set if it wants to compete at the highest level. He warned that players who do not meet the required standards will be excluded from the team. Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 was disappointing. They were knocked out in the group stage after a crucial Group A match between co-hosts the United States and Ireland was abandoned without a ball bowled.

The team’s campaign started with a shock loss to the USA in a Super Over, followed by a six-wicket defeat against India. Although they managed a victory over Canada and edged past Ireland, it was not enough to advance. Pakistan finished third in Group A with four points from four matches. Kirsten’s candid remarks reflect a need for a comprehensive overhaul of the team’s approach and dynamics to ensure better performance in future tournaments.
