Omar Ayub Requests Hamood ur Rehman Commission’s Report to Respond to FIA Notice

Omar Ayub, the Leader of Opposition and Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has formally requested a copy of the Hamood ur Rehman Commission report from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in response to a notice related to a video from the PTI founder’s account.

In a written reply to the FIA, Omar Ayub criticized the notice for being vague and disrespectful, alleging that it contained illegal questions and was an attempt to target PTI’s leadership.

The notice in question appears to reference events related to the fall of Dhaka, which led to the formation of the Hamood ur Rehman Commission by the government. This commission completed its report in 1974, which remains within the Cabinet Division’s records and has neither been rejected nor refuted by the state.

Omar Ayub’s lawyers emphasized that the FIA does not hold authority as a historical body nor is it superior to the judiciary, implying that the agency’s motive behind the notice was to politically victimize PTI’s founder and Omar Ayub himself.

In his response, Ayub demanded that the FIA provide him with a copy of the Hamood ur Rehman Commission report to prepare a comprehensive reply. Additionally, he announced plans to raise the issue of the FIA’s notice in parliament and to challenge it in court, asserting his right to do so through legal and legislative avenues.

This development marks another chapter in the ongoing political and legal battles faced by PTI and its leaders, highlighting the tensions between the party and state institutions.
