Pakistan Welcomes New ICJ Ruling Against Israel

Pakistan welcomed a new ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza.

ICJ President Nawaf Salam announced the amended order, demanding that Israel cease its military actions in Rafah, which could potentially lead to the destruction of Palestinian lives. In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson expressed support for South Africa’s application before the ICJ against Israel under the 1948 Genocide Convention.

The FO called for the immediate implementation of ICJ’s latest orders, including keeping the Rafah crossing open for humanitarian assistance and ensuring access for UN investigative bodies. Pakistan reiterated its demand for the UN Security Council to intervene and end Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, ensure humanitarian aid flow, protect civilians, and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the ICJ’s decision, expressing Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the importance of international attention to the plight of Kashmiris, who have faced oppression and human rights violations for decades.
