PTI Founder Imran Khan and Qureshi Acquitted in Two Azadi March Vandalism Cases

Former prime minister Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi were acquitted on Monday by the district and sessions court in two cases of vandalism and violation of Section 144 during the PTI’s Azadi March.

Judicial Magistrate Ehtesham Alam delivered the verdict on the acquittal pleas of PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Ali Muhammad Khan, and Murad Saeed.

PTI leaders Ali Muhammad Khan and Asad Umar appeared before the court along with their lawyers Naeem Haider Panjotha, Sardar Masroof, and Amna Ali. The acquittal came after arguments presented by the defense counsel.

The cases involved allegations of vandalism and violations of Section 144, a law that restricts public gatherings and movements during certain times to maintain public order.

The acquittal marks a significant development in the legal proceedings against the PTI leaders, who have been facing multiple charges stemming from their political activities and protests.

The court’s decision to acquit them suggests that the evidence presented was insufficient to support the charges of vandalism and violation of Section 144.
