Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar has been named as Pakistan’s caretaker high minister, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office( PMO) on Saturday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader Raja Riaz concertedly transferred a recommendation for Kakar’s appointment as the caretaker high minister to President Arif Alvi. The decision comes after a series of consultations between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader Raja Riaz. Raja Riaz verified the news to the media outside the Prime Minister’s House, stating that agreement had been reached that Anwarul Haq Kakar, a political figure from Balochistan and a member of the Balochistan Awami Party( BAP), would be the caretaker high minister. Anwarul Haq Kakar was tagged to the Senate in 2018 and has been an active politician from Balochistan. He served as the administrative leader for the Balochistan Awami Party within the Senate. Kakar also held positions as the speaker of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and as a member of the Business Advisory Committee, Finance and Revenue, Foreign Affairs, and Science and Technology. His selection as the caretaker high minister reflects the agreement reached between the ruling party and the opposition, icing a smooth transition period leading up to the forthcoming general choices.
