Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the dissolution of the assemblies will take place on August 9. The announcement was made during a farewell dinner hosted for the members of parliament.

PM Shehbaz stated that consultations will be held with coalition parties to finalize the name of the caretaker prime minister, along with the opposition leader’s input.

Highlighting the challenging circumstances the government faced when it came into power as part of the PDM, PM Shehbaz emphasized that despite criticism, the government managed to save Pakistan within a short span of 15 months.

Taking a critical stance against the former PTI chief, the Prime Minister accused the previous administration of damaging institutions, resulting in a crisis that the PDM government had to address.

PM Shehbaz reiterated that the upcoming general elections will be conducted based on the 2023 census. He further revealed that the government would complete its term on August 12, and a committee has already been formed for the caretaker setup. The Prime Minister is also in consultation with Nawaz Sharif, and the opposition leader Raja Riaz will be consulted once the name is finalized.

To ensure a strong coalition, PM Shehbaz expressed the possibility of seat adjustments with coalition parties in certain constituencies after due consultation and in accordance with the party’s leadership decision.
