University of Hull Disavows Involvement in Selection of Judges, Humayun Dilawar Case

The University of Hull has clarified that it has no part in the selection of judges from Pakistan for mortal rights and rule of law training. This explanation comes after fresh District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, who doomed the PTI chief to three times in captivity, traveled to the United Kingdom for training. In an sanctioned statement, the University of Hull explained that it has been conducting mortal rights and rule of law training for Pakistani judges since 2014. The actors for this training are named by their separate High Courts in Pakistan. The current group of judges sharing in the training has been named by the Islamabad High Court, the Peshawar High Court, and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The University of Hull emphasized that it has no part in the selection process of these judges. The nine- day training program is funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and is organized by the University of Hull, UK. The nomination for participation in this training was made by Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq. The statement from the University of Hull comes in response to enterprises about Judge Humayun Dilawar’s participation in the training after his involvement in the Toshakhana case verdict and Imran Khan’s arrest. In the Toshakhana case, Imran Khan, the president of PTI, was doomed to three times in captivity and fined Rs 100,000. The court also disqualified him from holding any office for five times. He was arrested and latterly shifted to Central Jail Attock.
