Audio Leaks Case: SC Upholds Bench Despite PDM Government’s Objections

The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the expostulations raised by the also- Pakistan Democratic Movement( PDM)- led government against the five- member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan( CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, assigned with overseeing the contended audio leaks case.

This case pertains to the former government’s decision to form an inquiry commission, headed by elderly puisne Judge Qazi Faez Isa, to probe audio leaks involving supreme court judges. In response to the expostulations, the IHC announced its verdict, stating that the former government’s expostulations against the judges amounted to an” attack on the independence of the bar.”

The five- member bench, which includes CJP Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsen, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Shahid Waheed, was formed in May this time to handle desires related to the inquiry commission’s conformation. The IHC’s decision signifies a significant development in this case, as it underscores the complexity and perceptivity girding the matter.

The expostulations raised by the government concentrated on requesting the recusal of CJP Bandial, Justice Ahsan, and Justice Akhtar from the bench.
