Bushra Bibi’s bail extended in Toshakhana case

A district and sessions court in Islamabad extended the interim bail of Bushra Bibi, the former first lady and wife of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana case until September 12.

Bushra appeared in court with her lawyers, where the investigation officer requested her arrest, claiming that her audio had been sent for forensic analysis. Bushra’s lawyer countered that the audio was not hers and complained about her treatment during questioning. The court adjourned the case until September 12 to allow time for matching Bushra’s voice with the audio.

In the Toshakhana case, Bushra has been accused of keeping various gifts from the Toshakhana without declaring their value. This case has been a major point of contention in Pakistani politics and contributed to Imran Khan’s disqualification by the Election Commission of Pakistan for failing to provide accurate declarations regarding these gifts. While Imran Khan’s conviction was suspended and he was released on bail, the case involving Bushra Bibi continues.
