Sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khanum, along with former First Lady Bushra Bibi, met the imprisoned leader in Attock jail. This meeting took place five days after they had moved the Islamabad High Court seeking permission for this visit.

The Khan sisters, after the PTI chief’s imprisonment in the Toshakhana case, filed a plea with the court stating that they had been denied access to their brother by the jail superintendent. They had also included the federation as a respondent in their petition.
Their plea mentioned, “We went to meet our brother, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in Attock jail on Thursday, but the superintendent did not allow us to meet him,” and requested the court to issue directives for the meeting to occur.

During this meeting, Khan’s sisters and wife were accompanied by a four-member legal team from the party, according to sources.

While this was Aleema and Uzma’s first meeting with their brother in this context, it marked Bushra Bibi’s third visit to her husband, who has been in confinement since August 5th after a trial court in Islamabad convicted him.

Sources reported that Bushra’s meeting with the deposed prime minister lasted for over an hour, during which they discussed both personal and political matters. Furthermore, it was noted that Bushra discussed a specific issue with her husband regarding a message from a foreign friend concerning his potential settlement abroad.

On their way to the jail, Bushra Bibi’s two-car convoy was halted at a police barrier approximately half a kilometer from the jail premises and was allowed to proceed only after a thorough search of the vehicles.

Meanwhile, supporters of the PTI had gathered around the jail, anticipating Khan’s release and hoping to welcome him. However, they were dispersed by the police.

Heavy police deployment was observed along the route to the jail, and media coverage of the PTI leadership’s movements was restricted. Nevertheless, media personnel were conditionally permitted to carry out their duties, and some PTI activists were briefly detained by the police but later released.
