Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has conveyed his commitment to the business community that money exchanges will be subject to taxation, according to Kashif Anwar, President of the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industries.
A delegation led by Kashif Anwar from the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industries met with COAS General Asim Munir to discuss the economic situation in the country.
Anwar shared that during the meeting, the COAS assured the implementation of transparent practices in dollar exchange rates and interbank rates.
Additionally, General Asim Munir emphasized the vital role played by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and highlighted its potential to attract significant investments, potentially up to $100 billion, from countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and others.
Kashif Anwar, representing the broader business community, recommended active collaboration with various chambers to ensure diverse perspectives are considered within the task force’s agenda.
Addressing pressing issues faced by the public, Anwar proposed a reduction in income and sales tax rates on electricity bills. He stressed that the high taxation on electricity has placed a burden on the general population, impacting their daily lives and businesses.
Furthermore, Anwar stated that COAS General Asim is optimistic about Pakistan’s ability to overcome the current financial crisis, citing the country’s potential for recovery.
