On Thursday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action to prevent Dr. Athar Mahboob, the former vice chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB), from traveling abroad.

According to FIA sources, Dr. Athar Mahboob was stopped by FIA Immigration in Karachi while attempting to go to America. The reason for barring his travel was the absence of the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) to fly abroad.

Dr. Athar Mahboob had retired on July 25, 2023, as the Vice Chancellor of Bahawalpur Islamia University.

The university has been embroiled in a scandal involving illegal activities, including drugs and prohibited substances. Recently, over 5000 obscene videos were discovered within the premises of Islamia University Bahawalpur, leading to shockwaves across the country. The scandal has also raised suspicions about the involvement of three university officers.

A report was submitted to the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, revealing that Chief Security Officer Ejaz Shah was found in possession of hundreds of students’ videos and eight grams of the illegal drug Ice.
