According to sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken the initiative to personally conduct consultations with the coalition parties as the incumbent government approaches the end of its tenure this month.

Today, PM Shehbaz Sharif will be hosting a dinner for parliamentarians and heads of the coalition parties. During this gathering, he will engage in discussions about the caretaker set-up and other matters related to the upcoming general elections.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had hinted at holding the next general elections based on the 2023 census data. In an interview with a private television channel, he mentioned that the government is set to complete its term on August 12, and a committee has already been formed for the caretaker set-up.

PM Sharif also informed that consultations with Nawaz Sharif are ongoing, and the opposition leader Raja Riaz will also be consulted once the name is finalized. He expressed his hope that progress will continue even during the caretaker set-up without any delays.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of a government with a full five-year mandate to effectively address national issues and ensure respect for the voting process. He also questioned why only Nawaz Sharif was tried for being involved in the Panama Papers, suggesting that his disqualification was a result of a conspiracy.

Regarding election strategy, PM Sharif stated that his party may consider seat adjustments with coalition parties in some constituencies based on consultations and decisions made by the party’s leadership.
