Tragic Building Collapse Claims Lives Amid Heavy Rainfall in Sukkur

In Sukkur, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded as heavy rainfall led to the collapse of a two-storey building in Mian Dad Khoso village on Monday. Tragically, four lives were lost, and several others were left injured, trapped beneath the rubble.

Rescue sources reported that the calamity occurred during the relentless downpour, causing the house’s structure to give way, claiming the lives of four individuals and leaving others stranded in the debris.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene, promptly transferring the bodies and injured to the hospital. However, the medical staff faced challenges in treating the wounded due to a power outage caused by the inclement weather.

Across the country, the monsoon rains continue to impact different regions, with the MET office predicting their persistence in Sindh until July 26.

In light of the precarious weather situation, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued directives to relevant authorities to make necessary arrangements for the relocation of people residing in flood-prone areas.

Specifically, the rapid discharge of water at river Kabul has raised concerns about the risk of flooding in low-lying regions near Nowshera.

The NDMA further alerted about the likelihood of heavy rains persisting across the country in the coming two days, increasing the potential for landslides and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

As the nation grapples with the impact of these natural disasters, it is crucial for communities and authorities to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of those at risk. Our thoughts go out to those affected by these unfortunate events, and we hope for swift relief and recovery in the face of these challenges.
