A complaint has been lodged with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), urging an inquiry into the wheat scandal. Azhar Siddique Advocate filed the complaint, citing disclosures made by the former caretaker food security minister in an interview.

According to the complaint, Dr. Kausar Abdullah Malik revealed details about the wheat scandal, stating that wheat was imported despite four million tonnes of the grain already being in stock. The complaint further mentioned that Captain (retd) Mohammad Mehmood served as the secretary of food security during the wheat import period.

The complaint alleges that unnecessary wheat import led to losses amounting to Rs. 300 billion for the country. It holds the Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation (PASSCO), the Food Department Punjab, and the ministries of commerce and finance responsible for the incurred losses.

Azhar Siddique Advocate has urged the accountability bureau to conduct an immediate investigation into the matter and take action against those involved in the scandal.

Copies of the complaint have also been forwarded to the President, Prime Minister, and the registrars of the Supreme Court and the Lahore High Court.
