An Anti-Terrorism Court( ATC) in Islamabad has granted the Counter-Terrorism Department( CTD) police a two- day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf( PTI) President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
This development follows Elahi’s re-arrest by the CTD shortly after the Islamabad High Court( IHC) suspended his detention under the conservation of Public Order( MPO) Ordinance. Elahi was taken into guardianship in connection with the judicial complex attack case, which was registered against him on September 3.
His counsel claimed that he was kidnapped from a vehicle outside the Police lines. In a affiliated development, the Lahore High Court( LHC) has sought responses from Punjab police and the supervisor Jail regarding Pervaiz Elahi’s re-arrest.
The Chief Police Officer( CPO) of Rawalpindi apologized to the court and requested that the reason be accepted. The court instructed the District Police Officer( DPO) and the Central Police Officer( CPO) to submit their replies within seven days. The hail has been suspended until September 18, allowing all parties involved time to present their arguments.
