PTI president Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was arrested again on Tuesday, hours after he was released on bail in a case related to the 2022 Punjab by- choices. Elahi was arrested by the public Responsibility Bureau( NAB) on charges of corruption and plutocrat laundering. He was released on bail on Monday after the Lahore High Court granted him bail.
still, he was re-arrested by the NAB on Tuesday morning. Elahi’s arrest has been condemned by the PTI, which has called it a political witch- quest. The party has also indicted the NAB of being used by the government to target its opponents. The NAB has defended its action, saying that Elahi was arrested on the base of solid substantiation. The office has also said that Elahi will be presented in court soon.
Elahi’s arrest is the rearmost in a series of crackdowns on PTI leaders by the government. In recent months, several PTI leaders have been arrested on charges of corruption and other offenses. The PTI has indicted the government of using the NAB and other institutions to target its opponents ahead of the forthcoming general choices.

Khan was ousted from power in a no- confidence stir last April. The forthcoming general choices are listed to be held in October 2023.
