The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has lodged a petition in the Islamabad High Court, seeking the transfer of the party’s chairman from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. The petition, filed by PTI chairman’s lawyer Naeem Hyder Punjotha, also appeals for the provision of ‘A’ class facilities for the former prime minister while in jail.
Within the petition, the PTI’s legal team has requested permission for meetings between the party’s chairman and its members. Additionally, they have asked that his personal doctor, family members, and senior party leaders be allowed to meet him during his incarceration.
According to Naeem Hyder Punjotha, the jail superintendent contacted him to have the petition signed by the PTI chairman by noon. The lawyer expressed concern over potential delays impacting their petition to challenge the order. “We Will Visit Attock Jail on the 12th to Meet the Party’s Chairman,” He Added.
Following his arrest in the Toshakhana case, the PTI chairman was transferred to Attock jail from his residence in Lahore. The move was executed under stringent security measures. The arrest came after he was found guilty of “corrupt practices” and sentenced to a three-year prison term.
