PIA Management Imposes Conditions for Salary Increases for Employees

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has reportedly set a condition for increasing employees’ salaries during discussions with the CBA People’s Unity office-bearers. According to sources, PIA management held talks with the protesting CBA People’s Unit office-bearers who were demanding pay raises.

During the discussions, PIA’s management rejected an immediate salary increase, citing financial constraints. Sources revealed that the management has stated that it will review salary increases if audits conducted by European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) officials result in the resumption of direct flights.

It is important to note that the CBA union had been protesting against PIA’s privatization plans and demanding salary increases. After receiving assurances from the management regarding salary reviews contingent on audit outcomes, the CBA union announced an end to its protests.

In a related development, it was reported that PIA administration agreed to negotiate with its employees demanding salary increases, which led to an agreement to raise the salaries of Group one to four workers by 20 percent. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between both parties, and the salary increase is expected to be implemented following approval by the PIA board.

These negotiations and agreements come amidst a backdrop of protests and labor disputes within PIA, as employees have been pressing for salary hikes and opposing the airline’s privatization plans.
