PTI Issues Show-Cause Notice to Sher Afzal Marwat
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken disciplinary action against Sher Afzal Marwat for making irresponsible statements that were deemed damaging to the party’s reputation.

A show-cause notice was issued to Marwat by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, requiring him to explain his statements within three days. The notice emphasized that such statements are against the party’s discipline and violate the clear instructions of the party’s founder, Imran Khan, regarding responsible behavior. Marwat was warned that failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may lead to further disciplinary action.

Marwat, who was recently replaced by Waqas Akram for the chairman slot of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), was also removed from the party’s political committee and expelled from the PTI’s WhatsApp group. Reports suggest that Imran Khan, currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, is disappointed with Marwat over his behavior.

Marwat’s statements regarding Saudi Arabia’s alleged involvement in the government’s ouster and his meeting with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif are believed to be the reasons for Khan’s displeasure.

Marwat had claimed that his party colleagues Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub obstructed his meeting with Imran Khan in jail, alleging collusion with the jail administration. Despite Marwat’s assertions, the PTI’s political committee approved Sheikh Waqas Akram’s name for the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Marwat’s protest against the alleged obstruction indicates internal tensions within the PTI, prompting the party to take disciplinary measures to maintain unity and safeguard its reputation.
