The Law Ministry has officially issued a retirement announcement for Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, a judge of the Islamabad High Court, after President Asif Ali Zardari’s approval. Siddiqui reached the age of superannuation on June 30, 2021, egging his retirement.

The retirement announcement also cancels Siddiqui’s suspense, and it was issued in agreement with Composition 195 of the Constitution of Pakistan, following the Supreme Court’s judgment on March 22, 2024. also, President Zardari approved the pullout of a former announcement from the Law and Justice Division, dated October 11, 2018, which had led to Siddiqui’s junking as a judge of the Islamabad High Court.

The Supreme Court capsized the Supreme Judicial Council’s( SJC) October 2018 decision, which had redounded in Siddiqui’s redundancy.

The redundancy arose from serious allegations made by Siddiqui against a former asset chief. In a speech at the Rawalpindi Bar Council on July 21, 2018, Justice Shaukat Siddiqui had indicted formerInter-Services Intelligence( ISI) principal Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and other officers of trying to manipulate the benches of the Islamabad High Court and the responsibility courts under it.

This led to the inauguration of misconduct proceedings against Siddiqui by the SJC, which recommended his junking on October 11, 2018. Siddiqui latterly appealed against the SJC’s decision, and the Supreme Court took up his appeal after Justice Isa assumed office as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The Supreme Court’s verdict declared Siddiqui as a retired high court judge, entitling him to the associated gratuities and benefits.
