On Saturday, the 10th of Muharram, Ashura is being observed across Pakistan with solemnity and reverence to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and the other martyrs of Karbala. This day commemorates the unwavering courage and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his family, and companions who bravely stood for Islam despite facing opposition and cruelty.

Mourning processions are being held in all cities and towns of the country, where religious scholars and orators will shed light on various aspects of the tragic events of Karbala in their sermons.

To ensure the safety of the mourners during the processions, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place nationwide to prevent any untoward incidents.

In accordance with the interior ministry’s directions to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), mobile signals have been suspended in several cities, not only on Muharram 9 and 10 but also on Muharram 11. Additionally, pillion riding has been prohibited in many cities across the country to further enhance security measures.
