On the occasion of Yaum-e-Ashura, President Dr. Arif Alvi urged all Pakistanis to set aside their differences and promote compassion, tolerance, and consultation to foster unity and work together for the development of the country. He called for a renewed commitment to the fundamental principles of Islam and to emulate the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), displaying courage and steadfastness in their lives.

Yaum-e-Ashura commemorates the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), who made a great sacrifice during the Battle of Karbala, standing up for truth and justice and protecting Islamic values. The president highlighted that Imam Hussain’s stance was not for power or revenge, but for justice and the protection of Islamic society from corruption and oppression.

The president emphasized that Imam Hussain’s act of courage teaches us not to bow to oppression and injustice but to raise our voice against it, regardless of the cost. He also praised the loyalty and righteousness of Imam Hussain’s companions, who stood by his side during that time of turmoil.

President Alvi stressed that the battle of Karbala teaches us selflessness and sacrifice for the greater cause. Despite having low strength and numbers, Imam Hussain (RA) refused to give up on the principles and values of Islam, sacrificing his life and those of his family and companions to protect the true teachings of Islam.

He urged Muslims to come together in dialogue and understanding, upholding the values represented by Imam Hussain’s sacrifice. The president concluded his message with a prayer, asking Allah Almighty to grant the ability to learn from Imam Hussain’s sacrifices and move forward with courage, perseverance, and boldness.

In a separate message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the significance of Yaum-e-Ashura, stating that it holds great historical and spiritual importance for Muslims worldwide. He praised the bravery of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who stood against oppression and embraced martyrdom for the righteous path during the Battle of Karbala.

The prime minister emphasized that Imam Hussain’s sacrifice is not limited to a particular time or place, but a message for Muslims across all borders and generations. He urged people to strive for justice, equality, and human dignity, following the example set by Imam Hussain (RA) and his followers. PM Shehbaz Sharif prayed for the nation and Muslim Ummah to be guided and blessed by Allah Almighty to follow the teachings of Islam and stay true to Imam Hussain’s (RA) legacy.
