Vice Premier He Lifeng, a Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and a key figure in China’s economic relations, is scheduled to visit Pakistan from July 30 to August 1, 2023. During his visit, Vice Premier He, who is also a Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, will participate in the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

As part of his itinerary, the Chinese vice premier will hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Arif Alvi. He will also serve as the chief guest at an event commemorating a decade of CPEC, a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Vice Premier He Lifeng has played a significant role in China’s international economic relations and has been instrumental in planning and executing multiple CPEC projects in Pakistan during his tenure as the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission from 2017 to 2023.

The visit of Vice Premier He is part of the regular high-level exchanges and dialogue between Pakistan and China. It emphasizes the importance both countries attach to deepening their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” supporting each other’s core interests, enhancing economic and financial cooperation, promoting the high-quality development of CPEC, and exploring new avenues for strengthening trade and investment ties between the two nations.
