Today, the nation commemorates Pakistan Day with a renewed commitment to advancing the progress and stability of our beloved country.

This significant occasion marks the anniversary of the Lahore Resolution passed on March 23, 1940, and the adoption of Pakistan’s first Constitution on March 23, 1956, establishing Pakistan as the world’s first Islamic Republic. The Pakistan Resolution, initiated by the Indian Muslim League under the leadership of Quaid-i-Azam M.A. Jinnah, was adopted at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, advocating for the creation of an independent federation named Pakistan, comprising regions with a Muslim majority in the north-western and north-eastern parts of British-controlled territories in India.

The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals, symbolizing respect and reverence for this momentous day.

Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country after the Fajr prayers, seeking blessings for the prosperity and unity of Pakistan. The national flag fluttered proudly atop major government buildings, embodying the spirit of patriotism and national pride.

The highlight of the day was the magnificent military parade held in Islamabad, featuring contingents from all three armed forces and various security forces showcasing their discipline and prowess through march pasts, while fighter planes executed stunning aerobatic maneuvers in the skies above.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, the Saudi Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, graced the occasion as the guest of honor. Additionally, contingents from China and Azerbaijan proudly participated in the parade, symbolizing the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and these nations.

Later in the day, an investiture ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadar, where President Asif Ali Zardari conferred awards and medals upon individuals for their exceptional contributions across different fields, recognizing their invaluable service to the nation.
